WLC 400: Major Capstone
Course Description: Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also complete a Graduation ePortfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese Language and Culture, and Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures majors.
Fulfills- MLO 1: LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY and MLO 6: RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY
Reflective Narrative: In this course I was able to finalize my research, synthesize, write and present my Capstone project. I did so by conducting my research on the utilization of rewriting in the two novels, ‘Black Widow’s Wardrobe’ and ‘Death at Solstice’ by Lucha Corpi. In order to fulfill MLO 1, I had to complete the STAMP Test in order to determine if I have reached the Advanced Low level of language proficiency, according to ACTFL Guidelines. In order to fulfill MLO 6, I completed my research by looking at the literary and historical aspects that are integrated in both novels, along with completing an analysis of both novels. Something that I wish to further develop is to see how else rewriting is integrated in other novels of chicana literature. This course relates to the previous courses I have taken that helped me develop my Capstone project, it has come full circle. After completing this course I intend to show others how rewriting is an important aspect of literature and how it changes the way things or figures are seen. Below I have attached the questions that I was able to ask the author, Lucha Corpi, in order to further my understanding of her novels.
