The outcomes for this MLO have been supported by the following courses listed below:
SPAN 300: Pre-Capstone, SPAN 301S: Service Learning in the Latino Community
SPAN 304: Introduction to Hispanic Literature, SPAN 306: Culture/Civic Spanish Latin America
SPAN 308: The History and Culture of Aztlan: The Southwestern United States, SPAN 325: Hispanic Cinema
HCOM 328: Latina Life Stories, SPAN 365: The Chicano Narrative, HCOM 345: Chicanx Life & Culture
Through completing this MLO in the various classes listed above I was able to develop an understanding of the ways of thinking, behavioral practices, and cultural products of Hispanic societies. Within this MLO I was able to gain literary and cultural knowledge via different mediums, such as literature, cinema, and service learning. Something I didn’t have before entering the program, so as I completed the program I gained a better insight on my own culture that was being discussed through the various courses. Within the MLO I wish to continue on learning about Hispanic societies through various mediums because I found that it was the best way for me to learn about them in this manner. It made things easier to understand and grasp. The areas that I found the most challenging was understanding some philosophies, especially when it came to pre-conquest times. I was able to overcome the challenge by constantly seeking out help from fellow classmates and professors. Overall this MLO has helped me grow my personal intellect through opening my eyes on topics and themes that I never knew about, such as the impact of Chicanas in literature, the importance of storytelling via cinema and much more.
