The outcomes for this MLO have been supported by the following courses listed below:
JAPN 310: Japanese Cinema
Through completing this MLO in the class listed above I was able to develop a general knowledge of other socio-cultural groups, analyzing their perspective, ways of thinking, behavioral practices and cultural products. Within this MLO I was able to get an understanding of Japanese culture through cinema, something that I never considered doing. In doing so I was able to learn cultural customs, the hierarchy system when talking to one another, how women are viewed and much more. Within this MLO I wish to continue on learning about cultures through cinema to see if I can learn from them just as much as I have learned from Japanese cinema. The areas that I found the most challenging was trying to learn some cultural aspects through cinema, although they were showing how it is in the culture it was still hard to understand it. I was able to overcome the challenge by conducting research on the specific film to see if there was an explanation to what was being shown in the film. Overall this MLO has helped me grow my personal intellect through showing Japanese culture through cinema, taking a different route to learn about this culture really made me appreciate it as well.
