Reflective Narrative: In this course I was introduced to the scientific study of language, that covered theoretical concepts and the application of linguistics. In order to fulfill MLO 2, I studied and went into depth on the way that language is structured and how it could be applied in one's day to day life. Through this course I was able to get an understanding of how language is developed, how pronunciations are developed and applied. Something I wish to further develop from what I have learned in this course is to look at spanish linguistics because although we did touch base on it, it was very brief and there wasn't a lot of material there to obtain. This course relates to a course I took my junior year, which was about spanish grammar and through linguistics I was able to get a better understanding of how to pronounce words. After completing this course I intend to further my knowledge on linguistics because it’s such an interesting topic and it’s hard to cover it all in just a semester. Below I have attached the first reflective memo for the class, it was to give the professor an idea on where you stood in regards to linguistics and how language has been a part of your life.
