Fulfills- MLO 4: SECONDARY CULTURE OTHER THAN HISPANIC CULTURES
Reflective Narrative: In this course I was introduced to Japanese culture through major Japanese directors and genres that are within Japanese cinema that represent the culture and society. In order to fulfill MLO 4, I learned about Japanese culture and perspective through the various films I saw in class. Through this course I was able to get an introduction to not only Japanese cinema but also themes and issues that deal with the popular culture. Something I wish to further develop from what I have learned in this course is to look at other mediums to get a better understanding of Japanese culture because cinema can only teach so much. This course relates to a course I took my junior year, it was about learning culture through various art mediums. After completing this course I intend to continue with learning about Japanese culture because it’s interesting to see the connections I am able to relate to. Below I have attached a review I did on one of the films that we saw in class and what cultural elements I saw.
