Fulfills-MLO 3: LITERARY AND CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE
Reflective Narrative: In this course I was to explore the themes of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity and class. I did so by going through autobiographical and testimonial writings by a variety of Chicanas, Latinas, Puerto Ricans, Cuban women in the United States. In order to fulfill MLO 3, I saw the themes of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity and class through the women’s perspective, specifically Chicanas, Latinas, Puerto Ricans, Cubans. Something I wish to further develop is my own personal exploration of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity and class, because it is important to get an understanding of different perspectives. This course relates to my own personal life. I say this because I was able to see myself in a lot of the writings that we studied in the class, allowing me to feel a sense of belonging and like I wasn’t alone. After completing this course I intend on continuing reading about gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity and class, through Chicanas and Latinas perspective. Below I have attached the script that I created for my personal digital story. It was created as a way to say thank you and acknowledge what my grandma and mom have gone through in their lives and how that has impacted me, helping shape me who I am today.
